As a class watch the free BrainPop Jr. video on Nouns.

Once the class has finished watching the BrainPop Jr. video review the word wall provided by BrainPop, which can be found below the video.

2 Direct Instruction

Login to NearPod and have students access the noun presentation and sign in. This is a free presentation on NearPod. Make sure to have a NearPod account set up prior to this lesson.

The presentation will go over what a nouns are, common and proper nouns, and recognizing nouns in sentences.

3 Guided Practice

Opportunities for guided practice are included throughout the NearPod presentation and provide chances for formative assessment, which can be assessed by viewing student work on the teacher dashboard on NearPod.

4 Independent Practice

Have students access the Noun Sortify game on BrainPop Jr. This can be found by clicking on the Game button below the video. Advise students to label their buckets as not nouns, common nouns, and proper nouns. Students will sort the tiles into the correct buckets. When students think they are done have them click on the bucket then submit bucket.
