1 The hook

Activity: Exploring

Show a variety of commercials, movie trailers and book trailers to the class. Ask the students to take notes on what aspects of the videos they found interesting and why, as well as notate what aspects did not appeal to them and why. When they are through, I will ask them to share their notes with the person to the right.

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Creating

Teacher will model how to use the iMovie app and distribute iPad mini's to each student. Teacher will go over acceptable images, video footage, and websites to share as well as go over rubric with students to clearly define desired expectations.

3 Independant Practice

Students will begin by selecting the book they want to advertise. Students will be asked to brainstorm what components of the book should be illustrated without spoiling the plot for the students that have not read the book yet. After the brainstorming session, students will be asked to begin creating the book trailer. They will use various Internet sites to capture images, video clips audio clips to create an advertisement to persuade others to read the selected book. Students will put compiled information into iMovie app and proceed to produce a 2-3 minute book trailer.

4 Publication

Activity: Presenting

Students will present their final 2-3 minute book trailer to the class. Students will peer review one another.
