1 Hook

Activity: Creating

Social Media is all around as, and they students are excited to learn how to use Instagram. I will teach them how to use instagram using a poem and making a collage of different elements of the poem

2 Direct Instruction

The students are givien a friendship poem and expected to  create a final product on the classroom's Instagram.

The teacher will models how to create the project by placing all the steps on Haiku Deck along with the finished product. The students can always log back onto Haiku if they would like to create another collage at a later date. All work that is copied must be cited correctly

Step 1 type poem in a compartment of Instagram 

Step 2 Locate a word that you don't understand and define it using dictionary app

Step 3. find a photo (from anywhere on the web, to a picture taken) to symbolize what your  poem is about

Step 4. write the similie or metaphore in the next compartment and explain the meaning through words or photo


3 Guided Practice

The students will use dictionary.com to find the definitions of the unknown words in their assigned poem.

4 Independent Practice

Activity: Creating

The students will use instacollage to place all the components of their poem. They can choose whichever template and be creative. their personality really shows on this creativity project.

5 Wrap-Up

As an extension. Students are asked to use Haiku deck to describe the steps taken to complet the iPoet lesson along with an image of their final instacollage.
