Into the Cell

From macromolecule to cell structures

Students will be able to identify cellular organelles and understand function of each.

1 Introduction to Material (Hook/Independent Practice)

Activity: Reading — Read the corresponding chapter to app flow

Students will read the chapter introducing the cell and watch 8 minute cell video. Students should have a vague idea of what is happening in the video after reading the chapter.

2 Guided Practice

Students will partner up and develope a concept map to explain what they have learned by reading the chapter and watching the video.

3 Collaborative Instruction

Activity: Conversing

Together as a class, the students and I will come up with an overall view for the chapter. We will talk about each organelle and identify its function.

4 Wrap Up

Students work in groups of 3 to 5 and develop 2 questions for each member of a group. After the groups have finished. They will join up so there are two large groups and the students will work together via Google Docs word, to develop a finished quiz. I will go through and select the best questions and give a quiz the next morning alongside some of my own suggestions for questions.
