1 Hook

The class would have already covered the basics of writing.`

The poster will have four sections for Auras (Aurasma) or QR codes.

  • One: Traits of writing presentation (which students made with a web based tool like Prezi or Google).
  • Two: Example of a type of introduction from a movie, TV show, or song (from a video site, will need URL).
  • Three: Example of a type of conclusion from a movie, TV show, or song (from a video site, will need URL).
  • Four: Expand on one of the following writing aspects - Tone/Voice, Style, Economy, Sentence Structure, Word Choice with a Tellagami video or a voice QR code.

If you are going to use Aurasma, I suggest having your own channel for your classroom and to use the studio option because of the links.  It does mean you have to do some extra work for the posters but each poster is under one channel.

Using Google Drive students will brainstorm the traits of writing, including their class notes and researched websites on a shared document.  If using Aurasma they would search for clipart to use on their poster.

Group will create a presentation for the traits of writing. The presentation must be shareable by a URL. Check for errors.

If using Aurasma the students decide which clipart goes with their link.

If using QR codes the students generate the code.

3 Guided Practice

Sections two and three are designed to find an example of a type of introduction from a movie, TV show, or song and an example of a type of conclusion from a movie, TV show, or song (from a video site, will need URL).

If using Aurasma the students decide which clipart goes with their links.

If using QR codes the students generate the codes for each example.

4 Independent Practice

Tellagami
Free, Free to Try

For section four the students will expand on one of the following writing aspects - Tone/Voice, Style, Economy, Sentence Structure, Word Choice with a Tellagami video or a voice QR code. Survey the class so that each trait is represented by the class.

If using Aurasma the students decide which clipart goes with their Tellagami.

If using the voice QR code the students generate the code for their trait.

5 Wrap-up

Activity: Creating

Using poster boards, the students create their posters.  Each section must be titled and the clipart or QR codes glued to the poster.  Other artistic elements are decided by the students.

If using Aurasma it will take a little time to make the clipart active with the links and Tellagami videos.

You can mix the two and use the QR codes for the links and then just Aurasma for the fourth section.
