Students will research, observe and collect data about the weather. Students will research, observe, and record information about an ocean/bay habitat. Students will recognize the impact of the surrounding world on this fragile ecosystem. Students will present a video recording of a mock news report of the weather and the ocean habitat.

1 Introduction

Students will use Brain Pop Jr. to explore and learn about weather, seasons, and ocean creatures and habitat. The availability of quizzes on this website is a good way to check for understanding of concepts. Discussions will take place about new vocabulary and information.

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Investigating

Classroom instruction about ocean habitats and its creatures, and how they can be affected by humans.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Exploring

Students will participate in a field trip to an ocean/bay habitat where they can observe first hand the weather, the creatures and the surrounding area and its impact on nature. Students will be allowed to use the camera and video tools on iPads to record data pertaining to the weather and nature news. This app flow does not include a camera/video icon

4 Independent Practice

Students will present their news videos and photos to showcase their learning about weather and this fragile ecosystem using iMovie app.
