Students will be able to read and interpret William Shakespeare's sonnets. Students will learn how to research the meaning of new vocabulary and create a list of synonyms.To end, students will perform their interpretation of their favorite sonnet for video creation to be posted on social media with identifying hashtags.

1 Can you hear me?

Teacher will read a brief passage of Shakespear's King Lear and then play the hip hop version on YouTube. Teacher will model the interpretation of several lines of written verse and audio/video verse to show students how to derive meaning from the written word.

Student Instructions

Students will be asked to critique and explain the meaning of both performances. They will compare and contrast for meaning and understanding in small groups.

2 Capturing Consciousness

Teacher will model use of the app TouchCast to teach students how to embed links, pictures and documents into their video presentations so that the meaning of the sonnets are easy to grasp.

Student Instructions

Students will be directed to copyright free sites to obtain pictures for use. They will be taught how to site sources and reference documents so that they will not plagarize as they use other works to support their publications.
