I will use video of the ancient China to grasp the attention and raise the interests of students. And then using game-based pre-course questions to check the students' history knowledge, and decide the difficulty level of the course and the extra reading and materials usage. 

Student Instructions

Student will have their iPads ready for the course. They will watch the video together with the screen in the classroom. And they will finish their pre-course quetions by their iPads.


Using Nearpod app to guide students learn about the order of the dynasty and the topics as following for each dynasty:

  • What happen in this dynasty (achievements, big events)
  • How the emperor in charge of this dynasty (right & wrong actions)
  • Why this dynasty is a flourishing time, or a declining time
  • Important people and time points


Student Instructions

Students will follow the instructor's guidance to read the materials, watch the videos, and take notes if necessary. 


Free, Paid

Help students thinking about the factors of a successful dynasty. They could collaboratively creating the factors on Padlet, and we will discuss after everyone finish typing.

Student Instructions

Think about the materials just learned, pick up and summarize the factors that will affect the dynasty's fate. And write on the Padlet with classmates and share the factors and discussion.  


In this session, I will direct students using storytelling method to integrate the knowledge of the course, and connect the knowledge with their personal experiences to create their story about an organization or a company that maybe successful or not. Or using the knowledge to create a story of their daily life that might change with the knowledge we just learned.

Student Instructions

Using the StoryBuilder app to create a short story, using the knowledge of the course, such as factors of succeed, what quality will be beneficial for a person, etc. 


Free, Paid

Using the quiz and poll functions of Nearpod, to wrap up the knowledge points and check the learning outcomes for students. And will have some reading and writing assignments on Showbie app after class.

Following the steps on Nearpod to finish the quiz and poll, and finish the assignment after school.
