1) Independently think about the concept - 3 C's of how to make a difference in the environment - conserving, cleaning up, and chiming independently.
2) Pair up with a partner and brainstorm 2 ways for each of the 3 C's. Record the answers of the partner brainstorming session.
3) Share the brainstorming session answers with the class.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Exploring

- Students will take a Zaptor video tour and answer open ended questions about environmental issues facing the Earth and its occupants

1) Take a Zaptor video tour with the following website link: http://www.zaption.com/tours/53b426551ab13c352a88ac60

4 Independent Practice

Activity: Assessing — Carbon Footprint Calculator

- Students will assess their own carbon footprint using a carbon footprint calculator from PBS Kids

1) Go to the following website: http://meetthegreens.pbskids.org/features/carbon-calculator.html
2) Calculate a carbon footprint using the calucator found on the website in #1 above.
3) Summarize findings from the carbon footprint calculator in a paragraph of 5 sentences or less.

Free, Free to Try

- Students will use the Tellagami app to make a 30 second infomercial on a specific type of pollutant affecting the Earth

1) Based on all the human effects (pollutants) explored during this topic of humans and the environment and how to make a difference, create a 30 second infomercial.
2) Pick a pollutant & how to positively affect it.
- identify a pollutant
- decide how to positively affect the pollutant by the 3 C's - conserving, cleaning up, or chiming in
3) Using the Tellagami app, make a 30 second infomercial about the items listed in #2 above.
4) Finished infomercials will be shared with class.
