Green Screen Non Fiction Picture

Students will be able to... after reading a non fiction book in the small group students will create a green screen picture to share with the group.

1 Hook/Attention Getter

Activity: Reading

1. Teacher provides a sample of the green screen picture she has taken with a picture related to the non-fiction text read in the group.

1. Students listen to the story and provide details they learned. 

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Reading

1. The teacher reads the high interest non -fiction text to the students.  While reading the text a circle map is made of the details identified.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Reading

After reading the non-fiction text the students observe the teacher searching for a picture to represent the detail chosen (tornado).  A picture is saved the the app and the teacher takes a picture of herself.  Then makes the pictures.  With a sharpie she writes one detail on the picture. 

Student Instructions

Students watch and start to generate ideas for the picture and detail they wish to share. 

4 Independent Practice

Teacher is available to assist students while completing the project. 

Student Instructions

Students use the ipad to upload a picture from the internet into the green screen app then add their picture. Once printed out the student adds the detail to the picture.

5 Wrap Up

Activity: Creating

Once students have completed the picture and detail a bulletin board will be made to display all the pictures.

Students will view the bulletin board.
