1 Access Prior knowledge

Access Prior Knowledge: As a piece of homework, have children visit Google Classroom where you will have added one or a few of the suggested videos from resources as well as a pre-made prompt document attached from Google Drive (see Tareas video for instructions on how to do this).

Student Instructions

Students will watch Dangle or another video and respond to the prompt of your choice. This could be the students brainstorming ideas for alternative endings.

This could also be an invitation for a new unit- an online story, video or image.

2 New Knowledge

New Knowledge:The next day, after the homework is complete, show Dangle again (or  Black Hole or any other prompt). Discuss the ideas people have brainstormed on Google classroom.

Student Instructions

Give students 10 minutes to continue brainstorming and planning their story based upon the prompt.

Alternatively, use it as the beginning of an invitation activity relating to the central idea.

3 Application

Activity: Other — Writing

Application:

Students then begin their writing sample. For less able students or students with special educational needs you could also include a structured template on Google Classroom, such as a storyboard.
