2 Direct Instruction
Using the article, "Girl Power" from he Washington Post ( on LearnZillion), ask student to read the article to discover the drea Dasiy had for girls.
Analyze key events, using a timeline students create either during or after reading.
3 Guided Practice
Using "Girl Power", ask student triads to locate the information that was important to them or surprised them, in each section of the short article.
Triad "scribe" captures this information in Popplet ( either the website or the app)The triad organizes it by the article section numbers, moving the popplet bubbles around the the approrpriate number headings.
4 Independent Practice
Using the Explain Everything app, ask students to create and draw an iillustration for an inference they discovered in this article. Students should refer to their Popplet notes and diagrams as well as the article.
Students share their inferences in Student Team groups. EAch team selects 2 inferences to share with the group. Students use the Apple TV and interactive board to project their drewings for students to see. Student presenters explain and answer questions about their ideas.
