1 Hook

Activity: Presenting

Show opening slide of the lecture and speak of how George Washington was a colonist, and a very successful one at that, how the British wouldn't give him commission in the Military because he wasn't an "aristocrat."  British didn't consider any colonists aristocrats.

Student Instructions

Listen, follow along with the slides and write down any additional notes they think will be important and ask any questions they might have.

2 Direct instruction

Activity: Presenting

Continue through the slides and elaborate on the information given in them.  While also asking questions to the students to see if they are understanding what is being taught.

Student Instructions

The students will continue to follow along and ask any questions about the content that they don't understand.

3 Practice:

Activity: Assessing

Hand out work sheet for students to do together and a question that expands on them to fill out on their own.

Student Instructions

Students complete the worksheet together and then the final question on your own.

4 Concluding

Activity: Assessing

Finish with the worksheet for the students to do and finish as homework.
