Understand why the United States did not enter WWI immediately.

Give reasons for why the United States did enter the conflict on the side of the allies. 

This is designed for a classroom equipt with Chromebooks 1:1.

1 Hook

Students will play the game in order to test their prior knowledge of the concept. 

Student Instructions

Complete to warm-up game to test you knowledge of the subject, before we begin to learn about the concept.  The student with the highest score on the quiz will be given a free point on their assignment. !

2 Direct Instruction

Student will read the article to discover the main reasons that the United States entered WWI.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Presenting

The Students and I will create create an outline for the reasons the United States entered the war.  We will also discuss the German's reasoning for their actions. 

Student Instructions

Students will take notes as we discuss their findings. 

4 Independent Practice

The students will create a Mind Map that links the reasons the United States entered the war to the reasoning of the actions by the Germans. 

Student Instructions

Complete a Mind Map connecting the reasons the United States entered the war, to the reasoning that the Germans had when they took those actions.  Why did the Germans take the course they did?

5 Wrap-Up

Students will watch the video to recap the reasoning behind why the United States entered WWI.
