1 Stroy Creation

I have done this without the app, but using the app brings spell checking and more 'fun' to this.

Students will create a story using the prompts they get from Stories on Stix.

These are the elements of: who, where, when, what, why and how.

The app provides a space to write along with the ability to email the story to a teacher.

You can create a story as a class or in groups as to model what is expected.

Teachers should also develop the understanding of story elements before and during the activity. (exposition, character, rising action, climax, falling action, and conclusion)

2 Adding the visual

Free, Free to Try, Paid

Have students use the story they created to make a visual story or graphic novel. They can set up the pictures to include the elements of setting, plot, character, etc.

This is a visual way to grade the assignment quickly for feedback. As the teacher you can see the different elements of a story.

This can also be done as a pair/ group activity.

Students can create sequels or different versions as to point of view changes. They can even make a story with  an opposing point of view.

3 Peer review

Activity: Presenting

Using a SMARTBOARD or a similar device, you can have students present their story as the narrator.

Have students display their graphic depiction from Storyboard That of their story on the board in the front of the room.

Students should use the story from Stories on Stix to read as the narrator.

4 Peer review

Activity: Assessing
