Do it, Make it and Share IT!
This product is an engaging way for students to begin learning about a topic and helps them connect their prior thinking with other examples in their everyday life.
2 Direct Instruction
When we are learning about speed we do two different Gizmos. The "Measuring Motion" gizmo where students are measuring the motion of different animals in the savannah. We have also used the "distance vs time" graph gizmo to learn more. These gizmos come with worksheets and start up work that can be projected through the document and used to help students get started.
3 Guided Practice
When it comes to calculating speed, Khan Academy videos (or ones made by yourself) on other websites can be paired to show different ways to calculate problems.
4 Independent Practice
Using the Animoto video maker, students can create their own stop motion videos to show their understanding of speed and how to calculate it.
Students will present their work and then would be assigned an exit ticket and howework that reinforces the work of understanding speed from this lesson.
