Students will be given a set of manipulatives to explore. For example a large square that is made up of 4 smaller ones, a square made up of 2 triangles, etc.
2 Direct Instruction
As a whole group work with the students showing them various examples using the manipulatives.
Ex: 4 divided by 2 using 4 squares and putting them into 2 groups
Work you way through several examples with them.

3 Independent Practice
Give the students several examples to work on in pairs. When all the pairs have finished go over the problems together to assess who understood, we needs more help and we is completely off track.
4 Wrap Up
Students will practice their new skills using the app Fun Quick Math. This will help reinforce the concept and allow the a chance to have fun.
