Students will make a division problem about a 4 foot sub sandwich and how much will 4 people get.
2 Direct Instruction
After reviewing the screen cast, students will grab the fraction strips and demonstrate the sub problem with the manipulatives.
3 Guided Practice
Students will divide manipulative represenations on Baiboard and find the corresponding parts on the virtual manipulatives app.
After a couple of visual representations, students will write the algebraic method to solve the division problem. Students will understand that the quotient is a product.
4 Independent Practice
There's an app called Dividing Fractions. Students will work through the lesson, use the manipulatives and take the challenge.
Students will then use ScreenChomp as partners to create fraction division problems for the class to work out and check each other's answers.
