Days of the week

Target Vocabulary

1.   The students will be singing and learning about days of the week.

2.   The students will learn class participation.

3.   The students will learn rhymes and movements.

1 The hook

Activity: Assessing

The instructor will state the objective of the lesson- to learn the days of the week. 

Each days of the week will be displayed on large poster boards. 5min 


Student Instructions

Students are to  follow along with instructor as they recite the days of the week as they are displaed on poste board.  

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Presenting

Explain to the kids that you’re going to teach them a new song dealing with the days of the week. 


Student Instructions

Have all the children stand in a circle in a designated area in the classroom.


3 Guided Practice

Activity: Conversing

The instructor should sing the song once for the kids while the kids listen to the beat, rhythm, and words to the song

Student Instructions

Have the all the children participate in the singing and snapping of their fingers to the song. The kids will love how catchy the song is and it will help with them memorize the days of the week. 

4 Independent Practice

Activity: Investigating

Instructor presnt a days of the weeksequencing worksheet

Student Instructions

Fill out days the week worksheet. 


5 Wrap Up

Activity: Other — Evaluation

Assess how the students respond to the singing and movements

Assess if the students were able to recognize the different days of the week

Did the students participate in the singing and movement
