1 Hook

  • Set up Poll Everywhere mulitple choice question with the options: 1- The Renaissance has already ended, 2- The Renaissane is still happening, 3- The Renaissance never existed.
  • EEK! Conclusions are based off of the EEK! acronym (Evidence + Evidence + Knowledge from Reader = Conclusion!).
  • Materials: Poll Everywhere site, device per student (cell phone, laptop, iPad), wifi
Student Instructions
  • Using PollEverywhere poll, respond to “Based upon our research thus far, do you agree with the notion that the Renaissance hasn’t officially ended?  Or do you think that the Renaissance never occurred, like John Green states?”
  • Based upon the results of the poll, draw an EEK! Conclusion.

2 Research and Share!

Free, Paid
  • Quads (group of four students) have been assigned a Renaissance category (literature, visual arts, music, architecture, science, Greek/ Roman influences, argue that Renaissance never happened, argue that the Renaissance never ended). 
  • Quads will update the Chalkup (LMS website; requires set up) feed with research links, media, etc. for their topics.  Each post must have original commentary/ provocative questions and (link to) research.
  • Materials: Chalkup (website), devices per quad (laptop, iPad), wifi

3 Scripting the Podcast

Free, Paid
  • Quads will compose script for podcast using template located on Chalkup; students must upload script to Chalkup feed.
  • Materials: Chalkup (website), devices per quad (laptop, iPad), wifi

4 Recording the Podcast!

  • Using AudioBoom (podcast website; set up required), students will record and post Comparing Renaissance podcasts to Comparing Renaissance playlist.  (Refer to podcast task sheet.)
  • Post link to podcast on Chalkup feed with enticing headline.
  • Materials: Chalkup (website), AudioBoom (website), recording device per quad (iPad), wifi

5 Publish and Share!

Activity: Broadcasting
  • Students will check out feed to review podcast headlines; vote on two podcasts to listen to in class.
  • Materials: AudioBoom (website), Chalkup (website), device with speakers, wifi
