1 Introduction of concept

Introduce the concept of the various levels of ecological organization (organism to biosphere)

Show the Crash Course video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v6ubvEJ3KGM&t)

Student Instructions

Complete the following note packet, and take notes on the crash course video and record in your notebook.

2 Research of biome

Assign each student one of the following biomes (grassland, savanna, temperate forest, tropical rainforest, tundra, taiga, marine)

Allow students to have time to research their assigned biome (1 to 3 days depending on the class)

Use this time to teach students how to research using credible sources. Also show them how to cite their sources correctly as well.

This step will be done with some form of technology (computer lab/cart, ipads, chromebooks, byod)

Student Instructions

Research your biome using credible sources found only. The final project must have three credible sources.

3 Presentation of information

Students will present their information researched as a travel brochure. Canva can be used to turn an infographic into a brochure of information. Google slides can be used depending on the level of the class.

This will take 1 to 2 days depending on the class.

This step will be done with some form of technology (computer lab/cart, ipads, chromebooks, byod)

Student Instructions

Use Canva to present all of your information on your corresponding biome. You are making a travel brochure to try to convince people to travel there by high-lighting all of the biological features of the biome.

Be sure to include your citations at the end of the brochure.
