Ba Ba Bones

An introduction of the bones through song and dance.

1 The Hook

Ba Ba Bones song (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yn3n2u1kJ98)

Introduction to the skeletal system and why it is important.

Ask students questions about what they know about the skeletal system and the bones. Have them name the bones they know.

2 Direct Instruction

Activity: Presenting

Have the students move their desks so there is room for everyone to move around and dance.

Give each student a copy of the lryics to the song Ba Ba Bones.

Go over each line of the song and show the class the dance movement that goes along with it.

3 Guided Practice

Activity: Conversing

Continue going over the song and dance moves until the class has the song and dance down.

Go through the whole song one final time with the class with no music to make sure they got it.

Finally, play the video and lead the class through the song and dance with the music.

4 Independent Practice

While recording, play the video again and allow the students to do it on their own, being as crazy and creative as they can. 

5 Wrap-up

Activity: Assessing

Give each student a copy of the Dancing Skeleton worksheet and have them work independently on the worksheet.

Walk around and answer any questions the students may have.

After every student is done, go through the answers as a class.
