SchoolTube has a Schoolhouse Rock adjectives video to grab the students attection in what they will be learning. If students have learned what a noun is before learning adjectives they will use their proir knowledge of using adjectives to describe nouns.
2 Direct Instruction
After watching the Schoolhouse Rock video introduce adjectives more into depth. Show sentences on the board showing the noun and adjective. Give them the questions to ask themselves while they are thinking about what the adjective might be... "How much?", "How many?", "What kind?" and "Which one?".
3 Guided Practice
This is a fun way for students to check their understanding and practice with adjectives (and other grammer).
4 Independent Practice
Providing a worksheet with multiple sentences and students have to circle the adjectives in the sentence. It provides assessment for the teacher and students can display mastery in if they understand adjectives.
Use Prompts to give the students a prompt to use to write a short paragraph using adjectives in their paragraph for homework. Have them underline the adjectives.
