2 Step 2- Research

Activity: Exploring

The teacher will:

  • Direct students to the website: http://ancientegypt.co.uk/menu.html
  • Divide topics amongst students. I give two topics per student because that's what fits into my time frame. High school students can thoroughly explore two topics in one class period. There are ten topics in total

Student Instructions

Students will:

  • Visit the website: http://ancientegypt.co.uk/menu.html
  • Be responsible for their 2 topics
  • Click on their topic and read the introductory page
  • Click on the "Story" and read and summarize it
  • Click on the "Explore" and write the 5 facts that stick out to them the most
  • If there is a challenge/game explore that as well
  • Repeat with the second topic

3 Step Three: Cooperating with Classmates

Activity: Conversing

Teacher will:

  • Group students who have like topics
  • Instruct students to compare notes and decide on how to summarize the "Story" section for other students
  • Instruct students to compare notes and decide on the top 5 facts between their two lists
  • Have one representative from each group share with the class
  • This should take about 20 minutes with 10 minutes to determine the most important information with groupmates, and 10 minutes to share with the whole group
Student Instructions

Students will:

  • Compare notes and decide on how to summarize the "Story" section for other students
  • Compare notes and decide on the top 5 facts between their two lists
