1 Hook

Students will cut and paste information from http://www.fbi.gov/about-us/history/famous-cases/al-capone into wordle.net. Students will learn about Al Capone from describing words from the Wordle they create.

2 Direct Instruction

Teachers will take students on a virtual field trip to Alcatraz Island.

3 Guided Practice

Students will visit http://www.alcaponedoesmyshirts.com/alcatraz/about.html to explore the following areas.

1. Watch the video on how Al Capone go to Alcatraz

2. Take a quiz on fact vs. fiction.

3. Identify Gangster slang

4. Explore 10 fun facts about Al Capone

4 Independent Practice
