How I Use It
This educational mod of SimCity has 6 levels, each level takes more or less about one hour to complete. Glasslab (which created it) provides teachers with guides on how to use the game. The guides suggest teachers start a class by explaining the environmental challenge to students and then students proceed to play the game for about 20 minutes and then complete a short written reflection. There are also some diagrams that students must complete on how power-plants, urban structures and pollution are related. Most SimCityEdu: Pollution Challenge levels usually involved just doing one thing on a pre-built city map, making the levels not engaging. The diagrams students must complete are also not very engaging.
My Take
This was a noble effort at modifying an already very educational game. The end result, in my opinion, is not very engaging or educational, unfortunately. I also played about 50 hours of the regular SimCity and totally recommend that version for classrooms. Here's the Graphite review for it: /game/simcity
