How I Use It
I use GoNoodle every time that a class comes to see me for Creative Expressions. My class is a part of a 7-day specials rotation along with PE. We want our students to still participate in physical exercise, even on days when they aren't in the gym. I made it one of my goals this year to increase student physical movement in my classroom.
GoNoodle has been a great tool for this. Each class has their own profile, which tracks their progress. Students love it when they see their monster grow after every ten activities that they complete. The videos are short and engaging. My students K-5 really enjoy GoNoodle. I didn't know how my fifth graders would feel about these activities, but they love them just as much as my kindergartners. There is a great variety in activities as well. From dancing, to yoga, and track and field events,GoNoodle has a little bit of everything.
I always start off with exercises that get student heartbeats up and we end with calmer activities to get the students ready to return to their classroom. These activities not only do the body good, but also include messages to help improve attitude and increase positivity.
I also purchased the GoNoodle Plus subscription. These activities feature core-alligned physical activities which include levels for specific grades. The annual subscription costs $99. Unfortunately, I feel like I am using a lot of the free videos, not the videos that are part the paid subscription. I'm not certain that I will continue the paid subscription next year.
GoNoodle has been a great addition to my classroom. They offer a wonderful variety of brain breaks for free. The paid subscription for GoNoodle Plus offers more activities that are core-alligned. If I was a classroom teacher, I think I would find more use for these videos and would be a nice addition to the curriculum. The team at GoNoodle is very easy to get a hold of and are always looking for feedback from teachers. They add new content frequently and make changes to old content based on the feedback they have received. Overall, I would strongly recommend GoNoodle to teachers. Their brain breaks offer a great variety of activities in one neatly organized location.
