Throughout the first half of October, we hosted a contest for our Twitter followers encouraging them to curate and share a "Board" to win a $50 DonorsChoose.org gift card.

Today, we are pleased to announce that the winning boards are:

Jennifer Clancy's Literacy Based Resources and Tools and Mary Jane C.'s Kindergarten Apps.

Both Jennifer and Mary Jane are classroom teachers who are fervent users and supporters of DonorsChoose.org. Here are their stories.

Jennifer Clancy is a 5th grade teacher at Thomasboro Elementary School, an urban school in North Carolina. The school is high poverty and in her words, "the digital divide is very apparent."  Most of her students don't have access to a computer or the internet at home, so they rely on technology provided at school to use the learning resources the internet can provide.  Jennifer says, "My students LOVE technology and they need more time in class to use it!" That's where DonorsChoose.org comes in. Currently, Jennifer has three projects running. One is aimed at helping her students gain access to more of their favorite books, while two of them are focused on acquiring Chromebooks for the classroom. We've granted Jennifer $50 in DonorsChoose bucks and hope that you'll help spread the word about her projects to folks who are in a position to help too! Donations through October 24 are doubled if you use the code INSPIRE.

Jennifer curated an amazing board with a variety of classroom technology on it all centered around Literacy

Mary Jane C. is a kindergarten teacher in rural South Carolina who has been an avid DonorsChoose member since 2008. She's had more than 75 projects funded for everything from pencil, crayons and paper to Nooks and playground equipment. She is excited to know that her students today are still benefiting from the materials and supplies she has received over the past five years. Now, her focus is on helping other teachers find success using DonorsChoose, so she has a "giving page" called Kindergarten Rocks that highlights projects from all over the country. She is currently promoting the projects of a Facebook friend of hers whose son was recently in a car accident. That friend, Mrs. Young, is a teacher in Tennessee, looking for help to fund supplies for her young writers as well as a second iPad for her classroom. We've awarded a $50 DonorsChoose gift card to Mary Jane C. to use to support the project of her choice.

Mary Jane's board focuses on great apps for Kindergarteners.
