Why is Edmodo so popular with teachers? What is it? In a nutshell, Edmodo is a platform that allows teachers and students to post, collaborate on, and submit class work in a safe social network-like setting. As Edmodo is one of our top-viewed tools, we wanted to devote an Appy Hour to this great resource.

Hosting this month's Appy Hour is Common Sense Media regional manager Brian Dino, who is based in Denver, Colo., and works with Denver Public Schools. Brian's special guest is Sudi Stodola, a teacher-librarian and educational technology coordinator also with Denver Public Schools. She uses Edmodo extensively. In this webinar, she walks the viewer through the key features and functionality of Edmodo and explains how to use the tool effectively. About Edmodo, she says, "Students like it because it looks like Facebook. Teachers and parents like it because it's secure." Ms. Stodola likes it because of the wide array of features inside that make it easy and efficient to give assignments and quizzes, and to track student progress. She also likes that Edmodo is integrated with Google Drive. Teachers don't have to duplicate Google Drive documents, but can link to them directly within their Edmodo libraries.
