Last night Common Sense Media honored the very best in kids' digital media at our 2nd Annual ON for Learning Awards at the Cartoon Art Museum in San Francisco. The evening brought together current and past award winning developers, investors, and educators who are committed to creating high quality digital learning products for kids. Of the select 55 winners this year, 30 were on hand to accept the awards for creating apps, games and websites that have been rated Best for Learning by Common Sense Media, and to be recognized by their peers for developing digital products that inspire and educate.
"The ON for Learning Award recipients -- only five percent of the 2,000 products we have reviewed -- represent everything from innovative music-composition app to a cultural game to a program that inspires social-emotional learning," said Linda Burch, our Chief Education and Strategy Officer.
Common Sense Media created the Learning Ratings in 2012 to help parents and educators discover the most engaging digital-learning products that foster knowledge and skills all kids need to thrive in the 21st Century. Each of the winning products received a 5-star rating – the highest possible rating - for being digital media that is engaging, makes learning central to the user experience, and offers supports to parents and educators.
