How I Use It
This is a great review platform as well as a teaching platform for basic knowledge gain. Using various gaming designs, it touches on some of the different aspects of geography, such as states/capitals and landforms, and includes an ELA component where students have to "fill in the blanks." Students were engaged as they worked their way through the different levels. I would use this for sure as review and for learners who struggle with memorization of facts. I would consider using this with project-based learning for a need to know (i.e. related to Oregon Trail or mapping a trip across the U.S.).
This product is great for an interesting and engaging way to learn states and capitals and geography facts. I like the game aspect of it the most, as that increases student engagement and interest. The beginning and advanced levels work well with all learners. This is also a fantastic tool for visual-spatial learners and for learners that struggle with rote memorization. For years, we memorized the states and capitals---this brings it into an interactive, interesting learning experience, as well as incorporate all sorts of other geography knowledge.
