How I Use It
Touchcast to me is the future. It allows you to have videos with content you can actually interact with. I am in the process of turning my Social Studies classroom into a Newsroom type format. Touchcast is the base for that. Touchcast will be the platform of choice to record my flipped lectures because I can input extra content which allows to students to explore and gain a deeper understanding. My culminating project is also a News Broadcast which will be done on Touchcast because it allows green screen work, a teleprompter, and its easy to input material in a news broadcast format
My Take
I think this is a great tool for teachers because of its ability to ass all kinds of content which students can choose to use in order to gain a deeper meaning. In some ways you could build something akin to a choose your own adventure through it. It has some limitations at this point such as the five minute time limit (can get around it through doing different parts or doing touchcast within touchcat), it only being on Ipad and PC, and its inability to pllay with the interactive content off anything but their website currently. These are all things that Touchcast will continue to improve on though. It has only been around for about a year. The cost is also a big plus as it is free which most other Ipad video apps are not
