How I Use It
I used Toontastic this last year for story writing. First we mapped our stories on paper, and then the students created their cartoon. It was a great introduction to story writing!
We also used Toontastic as a culmination of our animal unit. The students had researched and written short reports about animals. We then used these reports to create cartoons about these animals. The students illustrated their reports through Toontastic and recorded their voices reading the written part of their report. A great Open House project!
Both my students and I love this app! I appreciate the way it structures storytelling. Students learn about parts of a story and feelings they want their story to show (through music). There is enough variety and opportunity for student creativity that they keep coming back again and again to make their own stories. They love to share their stories with classmates and online with their families.
