How I Use It

I have used this app in many different situations. My favorite use is with students who have special needs, it allows for as much or as little writing as a student is able to do. The graphic -comic book quality is also appealing for the reluctant writer. I have had students create a comic book as a retelling of a story we have read. A great way to assess comprehension!

My Take

Toontastic is a motivating way to teach students the elements of a story. I like that there are some wonderful options and choices for images, backgrounds and that there are not too many elements to choose from. I wish there were more 'theme packs' available for free as I think this would improve a great app. Also it takes a while for students to write a story at least 2-3 classes of 30-45 min each.
