How I Use It
Toontastic is a great app for students to create stories. The interface is simple but there are a lot of options and features so upper elementary and middle grades would be most appropriate. The final movie can be shown on the device or shared online with an account. This would be a practical way to write a story with the traditional conflict-climax-resolution format. Students could use this app to reenact a story, role play, create from scratch and more.
My Take
Toontastic has a simple, easy to use design but lends itself to some detailed stories requiring students to think. Kids can design the set, choose characters, plan the story and record their voices while moving characters around on the screen. Toontastic is set up to be used with scenes in a traditional story arc, but this can be changed, too.
