How I Use It
Tellagami has been a gateway app for many teachers as they begin to integrate technology into their student's academic creation repertoire. We have the free version on most iPads, but we also have the paid version to distribute via MDM to classrooms. The limited avatar customizing and 30 second recording time is not a huge issue for us. It allows us to focus less on the manipulation of the avatar and more on the content of the message. We pride ourselves on efficiency and clarity of thought in the shorter time allotment, too. We have used Tellagami for book talks as a character, introductions, 'be the teacher' explanation videos, and green screen app smashes to report from anywhere in the universe. This is an app that allows all students, even those who may be camera shy, to share their story and their voice in creative and empowering ways.
My Take
Tellagami is a very solid app. It is well used in our elementary schools and loved by our students. I would like to see an app update. The most recent update is over 18 months ago, and while the app is solid, new features and an interface update would be nice since it does feel clunky at times. Our kids love using Tellagami as an option for culminating projects. Since the end result saves as a video in iPad Photos, we can put it and share it anywhere we'd like. It is versatile and unique - there's nothing else like it!
