How I Use It
This product is great for annotation and discussion. When you upload a piece of text, it allows students to annotate the text and engage in a discussion about the text. Students can highlight and leave notes while reading, and the teacher can set up the questions based on the skill they want the students to learn. Everything is also aligned to Common Core with Subtext. The downside to this app is the free version has very few features that make it worth using. You need to purchase the individual student licenses to get the most out of what the app has to offer. Also, every student needs an iPad or tablet. Working in a pair is not conducive to optimum student learning.
My Take
I like everything this app has to offer and think it can one of the best tools out there for close reading, annotating, and writing about a text. Unfortunately, the free features just aren't that great. The individual license is also very expensive, so I'm not sure how many schools will be able to afford buying this app for students.
