How I Use It
This app can be used at any time, even at home. A teacher can set up @ SpellingCity.com for free and use it instead of traditional weekly paper assignments and Friday tests. My teachers find it a better way to fulfill the spelling component. I put the apps on the iPads, so students can work on it during ELA time. If a school or classroom buys an account, the students can even play the more advanced games on the iPads.
My Take
There's a huge lack of solid ELA iPad apps, so I rate this one higher than usual. I love how this is a follow through of the website (SpellingCity.com). If you pay for service, this is especially good for continuing to get the most out of it. I like this app, but I think that it needs to do more to help students learn the definitions and how to use their words, other than just spelling. I guess that's the next level, since theoretically it's just for spelling.
