How I Use It
This product is almost exclusively a teacher-driven product. It has amazingly detailed lesson ideas and integration ideas for therapists, teachers, and speech pathologists. However, the activity streams are set in an eight week pattern and skipping around doesn't really seem to be an option as many of the lessons build upon previous ones. I don't see this as a student-driven activity...even after you've taught the children how to use it. It has great links within the app and it has a great format for the entire experience.
My Take
As a classroom teacher, I wouldn't use this for intervention with my special needs or autism spectrum students because I feel that the entire app is too rigid in the structure - it's too difficult to pull out one activity to address a specific area without pre-teaching the related activities. I think it could be great for special needs counselors, speech and occupational therapists, etc. who do weekly pull outs. I look for apps that have a wider audience base and greater application throughout the curriculum. If you are seeking an app that is narrow in scope and very directed toward lower elementary - this one's for you. If you are seeking something more flexible - it's not. I don't think that the price reflects the value.
