How I Use It
SeeSaw allows teachers to set up multimedia digital portfolios. One of the most valuable aspects of See Saw to me as a teacher is the ability for students to upload work, record video and reflect on their learning. Students are able to self-assess their work, share areas that they feel they are growing at, and talk about next steps for moving forward in the their learning. SeeSaw uploads this, where the teacher can view it, approve it and tag it with a QR for students to share with teachers.
My students use this regularly to reflect on projects. It's especially great for showing growth over time, and quite useful for parent teacher conferences and professional evaluations.
This app is one of my go-to apps for teaching and learning. It is simple in it's theory and design, but extremely pedagogically robust. The ability for students to collect their work (both written--they can upload it) and digital, record their voice reflecting on it and being able to share this reflection is so powerful! It works fairly well with a number of other programs, though this could be a bit more seamless. Feedback is authentic--their audience can be parents, teachers and peers.
