How I Use It
For this first year in a 1:1 environment (I teach K), I used it to collect evidence of work and only on occassion did a child make an entry. (We used it from January-June 2015), and it orginally was awkward with the QR code, log-in. I found I was easily and quickly able to collect pictures of work/assessments, as well as quick video of retells and presentations, and the parents LOVED the communication and audio/visual aspect of this communication tool. Because the parents were up-to-date with weekly samples, it saved me time in emails, phone calls and comments on progress reports and report cards. This year, I am going to have the children post artifacts and will be using it to collect evidence for my teacher evaluation.
I have longed to do student portfolios for years. In the past I was piecing portfolio by "app smashing" and it was extremely time consuming. I was delighted to learn at the positive impact on time savings and efficiency in communicating with parents, administrators and specialists.
