How I Use It
This is a "safe" app that parents or teachers could let their toddlers to 1st graders explore independently without fear of frustration or getting "lost." The kids enjoy the success they can have because the levels are quite easy for both the English and the Spanish parts of the program. If an incorrect answer is chosen, they can continue to try the others until the right answer is chosen. The program is just a little slow-moving and the kids sometimes seemed ready to move on before the program was ready.
My Take
Overall, I think this is best used as enrichment and "free choice" options on iPads for very young kids. It isn't broad enough in scope or deep enough in its challenge to be considered comprehensive for either reinforcing specific letter-sound recognition in the English section OR for the introduction of basic vocabulary and pronunciation in the Spanish section. However, I did think it would be a fun way for very young kids to experience early success with speaking a few foreign language words and can provide practice at listening skills since they have to repeat the pronunciation of the Spanish vocabulary. This could strengthen auditory skills.
