How I Use It
Students select their own books to add to their backpack. The range of books is impressive, including popular picture books and National Geographic Kids content. Students can read on their own or choose to have the text read aloud. The free subscription allows only 5 books; subscriptions are too expensive for my school and many of our students. This may be changing soon due to a Kickstarter campaign! Students earn stickers for reading books, but these are earned even when pages are skipped quickly so I would not use them as classroom incentives.
We love the colorful graphics and wide variety of great books. I appreciate the diversity of people included in the content and animations. The videos are also of high educational quality. The only negatives for me are the cost as well as the very limited nature of the games we have seen - finding matching image pairs. If cost is not an issue, I would recommend it for 1:1 iPad classrooms. It could also be a great whole class resource for a classroom with only one iPad that can be projected.
