How I Use It
I used this product to review academic vocabulary. I decided to make my own list so that the students were only introduced to review terms and not unfamiliar terms, but there are a variety of lists that have been developed by other teachers. Making the list was pretty quick and easy.
.The students enjoyed the competitive nature of the ap and were completely engaged. For what it does, it was effective.
This tool was an engaging way for students to review content, but that is all it does. It is a drill and kill application and I only used it sparingly. It does have options to gamify content in a positive and competitive way, and students can choose their own level of skill. Options include reviewing simple flashcards, being quizzed, or playing competitive games. The students were completely focused while they were using the ap, but it is not applicable to teaching content or guiding students in critical thought. Sometimes stidents just need to memorize and become familiar with words, so they can use them in speaking and writing about content. Overall, I would recommend it as fun way to review, but it should be used very infrequently.
