How I Use It
I create Quizlet flash cards for all of my story vocabulary in Language Arts as well as for each unit in math. My students enjoy getting to practice their vocabulary words with electronic flashcards. I like that they have an option to see the word or the definition because I think it's important to interact with vocabulary words in many different ways so that you develop a deep understanding of the word. My students like to play the matching game. When doing the students are using this App, it's something that requires them to self check which so I like to use it as a part of a station in Language Arts so they have other children to interact with if they have difficulty with a word.
My Take
I use this tool for review. I know my students are prone to losing flash cards and that a majority of my students are not going to take them home to study. I would rather create these Quizlet reviews for them because my children do enjoy using the iPads and computers. This is something they can access at home and not have to worry about something quizzing them on vocabulary words because they are able to do it themselves. I always link each week's vocabulary Quizlet to my websute so that the parents can use it as a study tool as well. I would not use Quizlet in place of teaching vocabulary in either math or reading, but I do think it's a nice interactive study tool.
