How I Use It
Students can use this app to demonstrate knowledge of story structure or to create a story of their own. The app has coloring pages for fun, but the best part is the ability to add characters and record a story of their very own. The theme is princess, so the app may work best with female students, but the wide variety of "characters" may make it work for both genders. In addition to the stock fairytale backgrounds, students can start with a blank page that they create or take a photo using the device camera. Finished products can be saved to the photos for exporting from the device. After creating more than one scene, students can drag them together to create a longer project from the smaller segments.
My Take
The Princess Fairy Tale Maker is a well done, fun app that students will love to create fairy tales of their own. Students that struggle with writing can benefit from the ability to speak their story and animate the characters to match the emotions in their story. When using this app with student writing, it would be important to share the app in advance, so students know the available characters and settings. The ability to create different scenes and then connect them together will be helpful when planning story events. I can really see this app being great for teaching and applying story structure!
