How I Use It
I started using this app in groups and then individually as a way for students to share and organize what they have learned about a topic. It is good to start in groups so students can learn from each other what they can do with the app-- learn by doing! I have used it to show understanding from a reading and I've also used it for research projects. However research is better with the website so students can add links and videos that they have open in other tabs.
I love to use this app (lite) and website with my students and also used it myself when I was getting my Masters in Ed Tech. I like that it allows the user to create a mind-map using a combination of text, video, images and drawing. It is fun to make and is a great way to share information.
The advantage of the app is that it feels more hands on with a touch screen. Having taught my students and my peers in college how to use the website, it was harder for both to use the cursor to manipulate the popplet. Using your finger it is easier/more intuitive to move the poppet bubbles around and change their size. However the app doesn't let you link videos.
