How I Use It
Plickers was a life saver when my classroom was still pretty low tech. My students didn't have personal devices and I had just a single iPad, but I still wanted formative assessment data to drive my instruction. I liked Plickers because I could use questions I had already built into my presentations or on the Smartboard; however, that was the piece other teachers in my building struggled with. I liked the ability to use my own content. Set up was quick and my students were able to get into a routine of holding their cards up without issue.
Overall, this is a great tool for a teacher who apprehensive about using tech or does not have a lot of devices available to them. I tried to keep transition time to a minimum by asking students to keep their card at all times. As a teaching tool, I could get swift data on low-level Bloom's questions before moving on. Crafting a high-quality question is essential for this to be effective! My tip: don't laminate the cards (tempting as it is for durability) because it makes it tricky to scan the QR code!
