How I Use It
I used this in my after school class but now that I have the kinks worked out I may try to bring it to the masses in the regular classroom. Possibly starting with 4th or 5th. I spent a whole lesson just having the students check out some of the games others have designed in order to get ideas for their own games. The app has lesson plans which I modified. Then I spent a lesson having the students test screenshot that you can print from the app. The app takes awhile to load creations. We then spent time designing. You must use a ruler otherwise designs won't register.
My Take
You definitely need to tinker with this app ahead of time. There are quirks but the end product is worth the effort. It is the closest thing to designing I video game that I have seen so far. I liked using this in small group and I would give serious thought before I try it with a large class.
