How I Use It
I use this app in small groups. I work with the students that are struggling to get the concept. When the game begins, students decide if they are X or O. When they begin, they pick a square. The square will ask the a phonics question. The question is based on the blend, syllables, sounds, etc,, in the words. The students must decide the phonics rule that is being used. They must answer the question that is given to them. For example, it my ask the first two letters in a word, and give the students a picture. The students will then be given 3 choices. They must decide which is the correct answer. If they get the answer correct, they earn a square. If they do not know the answer, they are able to cancel and pick another question.
My Take
I think this app is a fun way for students to learn phonics. They have to understand the rules of phonics before they are able to get the answer correct. I do not like that they questions are not read to the students. I feel if would be very beneficial if the students were able to hear the questions and sounds. I feel that more students could use this app if it were to read to them.
